Wow, what an amazing place to live. Close to the city (by dart, bus - or indeed bike if you get up early) and yet an all year round 'beach' resort whatever the weather. The only failing is lack of facilities in terms of retail, coffee shops, bars, etc. However, the seaside town of Malahide is only a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk by the dramatic and wondrous coastline. I definitely recommend Portmarnock.

I love the helpfulness of the people, the cleanliness of everyplace, how the people mow the verges infront of their homes and sweep the paths. I love the beautiful clean beach and the rocks where one can be alone and commune with nature. I hate the way visitors leave rubbish behind for the local people to clear after them.

Coastal village with superb amenities, 2 renowned golf couses, fantastic sports community centre with pool, excellent football gaelic and soccer clubs, fresh air and stunning walk/views to Malahide. Lovely people. Great social life. Safe place for children to grow up. Magnificent beach. Only 10 miles to Dublin City centre. 4 miles to Airport. Local restaurants. Dublin Bay Prawns- the real ones not to mention cockles and mussels. and a cold creamy pint of Guinness. Have I convinced you yet!

I was born and raised in Portmarnock. It’s a very good place for kids to grow up. There are 2 excellent primary schools, and an excellent secondary school. There are great surroundings with well laid out estates and plenty of green areas. The Leisure Centre is a great facility, new scout den to follow. Also Portmarnock is the home of the Velvet Strand possibly one of the best in Dublin. There is a fantastic Sporty Community Spirit, with decent down to earth people. Downsides, The village is not great looking but has some amenities including, School, Church, Pub, Doctors, Dentists, Take Aways, Vet, Hair Dressers, Newsagents, Pharmacies, an excellent Butcher, Bakery, ATM, a great Off Licence, Links Pitch

I have been living here for more than 30 years and have reared my family here. All the children were educated locally and we were very happy with the schools. There are many clubs in the area for both children and adults so there is something for everyone. The leisure centre is a wonderful facility. There are 2 churches with very friendly priests. There is a supermarket and a number of other shops in the village. The area is beautiful. The golden strand, the cliff walk and the new park overlooking the sea make it a beautiful place to get close to nature. The wild bird life is stunning. Transport is now very good, with train, Dart and bus services to the city. There is also a bus service to Dublin Airport.
