Country living with all necessary amenities on your doorstep. Close enough to the city to make it easily accessible but far away enough that you don't hear the sirens or attract undesirables. Great place to live.

Lusk has one magor thing going for it- it is close to Skerries. Lusk as a place to live is ok. it lacks any real economy has the village has only to two fairly crap pubs, no cafes or Restaurants (if you exclude the usual take aways) and no shops (cloths, hardware etc.). However to its advantage it is located in the middle of beautiful countryside with an endless supply of traffic free lanes to explore on a bicycle on a fine evening. For that alone i give Lusk the thumbs up.

Well what can I say. There is a dump on one side of us and a youth detention centre (prison) on the other!

I moved to Lusk from the south inner city in 2004, we chose Lusk because basically we wanted to get away from noise, crime and frequent burglaries where we were. The first few months seemed okay, the occasional incident from the local youths but nothing serious. 2007 seemed to spark the beginning of the end for Lusk. There were constant disturbances caused by teenagers who used the various playgrounds as there 'patches' at night. My girlfriend witnessed these youths regularly kicking off the wingmirrors of peoples cars, they terrorised locals, mostly foreign people. A friend of mine had his car window smashed when one of them shot a high powered BB gun from the graveyard, which is another place that I'd advise to avoid. Many young people hang around here, drinking and taking drugs at night. Not too long ago, the youths who hung around this graveyard decided to break into the neighboring house and burn it down to the ground! There have been shootings, car thefts, house burglaries, regular fires, assaults, drug use, vandalism and basically everything in between. We moved here for a break from the city but it's as bad, if not worse! The only reason, I believe that it is not widely documented is that it is a small village which is easy on the eyes and which can easily be mistaken for a nice, quiet community by passer-by's. I've also been informed that there will be a number of social housing projects being introduced to Lusk which will bring a lot more people from the greater Dublin area up here.
