Good: Friendly people, great services for the most part, not too expensive, good shopping, good choice of schools, fairly green city. It is a very pleasant, welcoming city for those who allow it to be so, rather that falling for Dublin/Cork propaganda. Bad: The Dell collapse hit the city hard, unemployment above average, gangsters bringing the crime rate up, the rise of the knacker accent, the local council (nutters, but if you don't bother them, they will usually leave you alone), city centre dirty in some parts (chewing gum squashed into pavements etc), and the opinions, shame on all of you outside and inside the city giving Limerick and its people a bad name, it is a demonstration of how empty all your lives are. I would love to give it 5/5, I recommend Limerick to anyone.

I left the city mostly due to the very high level of antisocial behaviour. Filled with youth who seem to have nothing better to do than harassing people and damaging property. There are some nice places where to go at night, but the city centre is otherwise deserted/unsafe after the shops close around 5.30pm. Whole areas of the city are essentially no-go zones. Other areas are mostly grey and poorly kept. Many shops have closed down adding to the sense of misery that engulfs the city. Terrible place to leave in.

Three words to describe Limerick: crime, knackers, denial.

anon replies ... "three things: hearsay, lower crime rates than Cork and Dublin, European City of Sport 2012"

Most people are very friendly, open and welcoming. The City Centre is run down and the crime is still too high. Too many scumbags loitering around.
